Look what made it in yesterday—my author copies of CORVUS, second installment in the Frontlines: Evolution series, out on August 19th.
I’ll probably do the traditional giveaway again, but I think that a few changes are necessary. During the last giveaway, I had several of the international deliveries returned to me, incloduing one where the customs service of the reader’s home country levied an import tax and the reader was unwilling to cover it. For every refused delivery or wrong address return, I get to eat the cost of shipping (which is over $20 for a paperback to most international locations), and the returned book is personalized and can’t be sold or given to anyone else. Add to that the current tariff situation, and sending books internationally is too unpredictable and expensive for me right now. I already cover the shipping, and I generally take a full day to personalize the books, package them, and haul them to the post office. Having to figure out customs duties or tariffs and then potentially eating them myself is just not something I want to add on top of everything else.
If you’re a non-US-based reader, I know that this may be disappointing, but I am not a millionaire and I don’t have support staff. Until the tariff and international shipping situation changes, I’m going to have to curtail the scope of the giveaways and limit them to the U.S. and Canada. Sorry about that, and I hope things will change before the next book release so I can include international readers again without rolling the dice on setting $40 on fire with every padded envelope I send out.
I am really looking forward to reading this! Also, thank you for continuing with the Palladium Wars Series, I think it’s fantastic!
Preordered, already.
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but are there eBook versions available of Mr. Kloss’s work on any site other than the Evil River Company? I checked Bookshop.org and Kobo and I don’t see them. I am trying to give Ama$on less money.
I came here wondering the same thing. Would love for eBook versions to be available from somewhere else than just Amazon. I’ve read all the published Frontlines books, and was planning to start on the Palladium Wars series, but I can’t find the books anywhere expect from Amazon. And that’s a hard pass for me.
No worries. Looking forward to the August release!
Well, I know what my August pool side reading material will be.
It’s understandable. I have a hobby/side business of restoring vintage sports cars. I’ve stopped selling parts overseas because of our recent issues. I’m not going to risk irreplaceable components being lost forever.
Not hard to understand! “All the best” to international readers that won but can’t be bothered.
As much as I would love a signed copy, I’ll wait for Kindle delivery on 19 August.
I’m re-reading Frontlines. So good! I mean SO GOOD! Especially after quite a few years since reading the first book…I used all my free time to finish the first book!
I thankfully received my author copy of SCORPIO in Germany without any problems, so it’s a sad decision for me. But on the other hand it’s understandable with everything going on and even wrong adresses. Can’t wait to read CORVUS =)
it’s my 40th birthday today. So what a treat to hear the next installment of the series is coming very soon! So looking forward to this book. I love all the other books in the front line series. Thank you Marko for all the enjoyment. I’ve listened or read all of them at least three times. And some of them five or six. I buy the books first and then I get the audiobook when it eventually comes out.
I am soooooo looking forward to this book!
Completely understandable! I’m in the US, and have had to stop shipping to my international friends for that exact same reason.
When I shipped products internationally, it was always a gamble on whether my customer would get their stuff. During Covid especially it was really bad and I ended up doing the same thing you did. It’s a hard but understandable decision.
As a UK resident (and previous winner of a signed copy), totally understand.
